Compucraft is currently contracted by the General Services Administration to design and replace switchgear in three federal courthouses. The weekend of October 23rd-25th marked the first switchgear replacement.
The Work took place at the Brunswick Federal Courthouse/Post Office. The scope of the Work included the removal of the 50 year old 2000 amp switchgear and the installation of the new switchgear, all while keeping the Post Office powered on. Compucraft procured (2) 500KW generators to use as the power source for the Post Office while the power was off line. One generator was used as the main power source while the other was on standby. The change-out was performed between Friday evening and Sunday morning in order to ensure that all Work was completed before the courthouse was to open on Monday morning.
Extensive planning by Compucraft, their subcontractors and Georgia Power proved to be invaluable as no unforeseen issues were encountered. The remaining two phases of Work will be complete between now and December.
